Gluten Free NYC: the wheat free winners

Gluten Free NYC: the wheat free winners

Gluten is not my friend. But luckily @loricapon is. Together we are constantly on the hunt for the best gluten free snacks, meals and sweets that the city has to offer. Here's a list of some of our favorites.

By The Way Bakery
When the new By The Way Bakery location opened in my neighborhood, I knew my self-restraint would be put to the test. Their gluten and dairy free cookies, brownies, cakes and muffins are so good I often have to cross the street as it’s hard to resist walking into their Lexington Avenue shop for a quick hit of deliciousness. And for all you gluten free jews - they also make a pretty kick ass challah!

Two Boots Pizza
Gluten free pizza is a hit or miss experience. But when I discovered one of my favorite pizza places now made a gluten free pie, I was down to check it out. Two Boots did not disappoint, in fact their gluten free crust is one of the best I have had to date.

The Little Beet Table
You don’t need to be gluten free to enjoy this farm to table spot. Their grass-fed double burger on a gluten free bun that makes it a favorite destination.

Maialino
Dining with friends who aren't gluten free? @loricapon’s go-to spot is Gramercy Park trattoria Maialino for classic Roman-Italian soul food including gluten free ravioli and pasta with pork ragu.

Elio’s
Speaking of Italian, Upper East Side establishment, Elio’s, also caters to the gluten free crew. Decades of deprivation faded away when I indulged in a bowl of spaghetti that tasted so good I had to double check with the waiter that he had brought me the right order.

Other great gluten free spots: Tu-Lu's Bakery, Rubirosa, Santina and by Chloe.

Know of a few places that should be added to the list?  Do tell! Email us at tell@thetellnyc.com
